If the Shoe Fits!
Packing for this trip has been a constant challenge from me. Just packing for twenty-three days alone is challenging but the real challenge is the preparation for two very different kinds of adventures.
That being said, I’m the worst packer, if it was up to me I would bring everything ‘just in case’, or if budget ever allowed I was just buy everything when I arrive. And I’m sure I have bought underwear, socks or basic tees in every city I have ever visited.
So I’ve asked the experts who are world travelers, who have visited S. America, and more importantly who have hiked the Amazon and they all mention one important basic need… a good pair of shoes.
“Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.”– Marilyn Monroe
I’m not sure Marilyn was talking about a hiking boot, but the experts insisted! And while they are no Jimmy Choos, Louboutin, or even Manolo Blahnik’s (although they fell in
that shoe budget range), you can’t deny the importance of a good shoe when hiking 20+ kilometers a day through the Amazon Rainforest. So without further a due check out these beauts:
I know SJP would be appalled, but with the new Lumber Sexual fad on the rise, maybe a little female hiking attire will be the next big thing since wedged sneakers (or maybe some fads should just disappear all together).
But a girl can’t survive in the city (or the Amazon) on hiking boots alone…. this led to a breakdown in DSW and late night panic attacks (this may or not be an exaggeration). But thanks to a quick trip to one of my favorite little stores on S. Congress, I have found the perfect combination of style, comfort, and giving back- bringing a whole new meaning to ‘sensible’ shoes.
More packing adventures to follow soon…
